Macarena Murugarren (she/her) is an intersex activist, poet, and cultural manager from Argentina. She holds a Literature and Discourse Analysis degree and a Spanish and Literature teaching degree from the National University of Cordoba. She has conducted over four years of research on intersex theory, gender theory, and feminism for her Bachelor’s thesis, which analyzes the representation of the intersex body in photography. She co-founded Potencia Intersex, a multicultural organization, and she is dedicated to spreading Latin American activism. She has developed “Nosotrxs, intersex” a zine that showcases art by Latin American intersex artists.
Macarena commenced her 11-month Marie Sklodowska Curie fellowship at Dublin City University in Ireland in May 2023.
